1. Zero-Retention Data Philosophy
At WaveForge, privacy is not an afterthought; it is our primary engineering principle. We operate a strict Zero-Retention Architecture:
- No Audio Storage: Converted audio files and source streams are temporary ephemeral files. They are automatically and permanently deleted from our servers immediately after your download stream completes.
- No User Profiles: We do not require registration, passwords, phone numbers, or credit cards. There are no user accounts.
- No Persistent Databases: We do not operate databases storing your conversion history or URLs submitted.
2. Information Processed During Conversion
When you initiate a conversion request, the following technical data is processed strictly in-memory:
- Submitted URL: Used exclusively to resolve stream metadata and extract audio via FFmpeg.
- Client IP Address: Processed in volatile memory solely for our automated rate-limiter (to defend against malicious DDoS floods) and discarded.
- Audio Parameters: Chosen sample rate (44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 96 kHz) and trimming timestamps, which exist only for the lifespan of that specific HTTP request.
3. Browser Local Storage (Client-Side Only)
WaveForge uses your browser's private localStorage API solely to enhance your local workstation experience (such as remembering your recent conversions and sample rate selection). This data resides exclusively on your device, is never transmitted to our backend, and can be cleared at any moment by clicking "Clear History".
4. Third-Party CDNs & Analytics
We do not use invasive third-party tracking scripts, trackers, or behavioral profiling tools. Standard static assets (e.g., fonts, icons) are served via secure global Content Delivery Networks (Google Fonts, Cloudflare) that may process standard HTTP headers for asset delivery.
5. Children's Online Privacy (COPPA)
WaveForge does not target or knowingly collect any personal information from children under the age of 13. The Service is accessible to the general public without registration.
